As part of our Summer O' Fun, Campbell wanted to make sure that we got our library cards so that she could get some books. We have stopped purchasing her new books because she reads them too fast. Yesterday the kids and I went to the local library to get our cards and check out a couple of books.
Caleb, Campbell and I each got our own library cards. We each got to choose from three designs: a rock formation, a statue, or hot air balloons. We all chose the balloons. In hindsight we should have each chosen a different design, but we all liked the balloons. Though, Caleb was very upset when he discovered that it was just a picture of a hot air balloon and not an actual balloon.
After a minor meltdown over the balloon we headed back to the children's reading section. I sent Campbell to the juniors section with explicit instructions to get a large book, nothing under 200 pages. Caleb settled on two books and a movie. Campbell found a book from historical fiction section, her favorite genre. The book was 273 pages long. I figured we would be good for maybe a week with that.
I now stand corrected. As of today she has completely read the book. TWICE. I know she has read it because I made her give me a summary and she did a great job with it. At this rate she is going to finish every last book in the library before summer is over!

Moved In
We are now moved into our new place. We are still living out of boxes, but we're here. I still need to go back up to Littleton to clean the old place but we are just about done with that. Now we are ready to get settled into the new house.
The move went well. We hired to college boys to help load and unload the moving truck. This was the best decision ever. They were more than happy to earn the money and they worked quickly. The were able to help us get the truck loaded in 3 hours (we had everything packed) and unload in 1:45.
We'll update more as we start to get settled.

A Birthday, A Marathon, and A Move
Friday was Aaron's birthday. When he made it home from work we headed out to dinner at a place we hadn't been to yet. It was a nice little place and had terrific food. We even treated ourselves to desert. We usually don't do the desert since we are trying to be more healthy and fit. Birthdays are an exception though. Aaron went for the strawberry/rhubarb desert. Campbell went for the vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. Caleb and I went for the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate covered espresso beans. We are not the most dessert compatible family. With our different likes the only ones that really share are Caleb and I. Caleb is a serious chocolate fan!
Saturday morning we got up early and got ourselves some breakfast. Campbell had to be downtown for her marathon before 10. She was running her 3rd marathon mile since moving out here last year. She loves to do these. The way they work is that she has 6 weeks to walk/run 25.2 miles. The last mile is run as a group. She did a terrific job. In her last marathon last fall she completed the mile in 10:23. Saturday she completed it in 10:00. We are super proud of her and so glad that she finds joy in these things. The new school she will be attending in CS has an elementary school track team. We are so excited to have her join next spring.
Saturday afternoon and Sunday were spent packing and cleaning the house. The moving truck gets here this coming Saturday morning so we are trying to get ready. Campbell has become the official box marker. It's her responsiblity to put masking tape on each box and then write which room it goes in. We are almost completely packed now. All that's left is the little stuff that just kind of gets thrown in a box. We have also done a great job of getting rid of stuff. I have taken a good bit of stuff to the consignment stores and Goodwill. Just a few more days and we will have this move behind us.

May 13
It's May 13 and this should be a Friday not a Tuesday, because you would only think this would happen on a Friday the 13th. "What is happening?" you ask. Well, it is May 13th and it's SNOWING. Yes, it's snowing, again. Granted, it's not sticking to the ground because yesterday it was 75 degrees! But, this is definitely getting old.
Now that that is off my chest, let's do a quick update for you all.
On Thursday we went to Campbell's school for a program. The third graders were all doing a shadow play of Asop's Fables. It turned out to be really cute. We were easily able to tell which shadow was our daughter. Besides the fact that she was a foot shorter than the other kid in the skit, she was the most dramatic. While other kids just sort of stood still during their parts, Campbell had the drama arms, neck, and mouth. She was definitely playing up her bunny part. It was really cute. We are suppose to all get a dvd of the skit showing both what the audience sees and what is going on behind the shade. I will share when we get those.
Friday after school, the kids and I headed down to the new house. We took a carload of stuff. Aaron had picked up a "new" bedroom set that day and we were going to help him offload that at the new house. Aaron and I decided that it was time to get a King size bed and we found a decent set on Craigslist so we took the plunge. While at the house we got to meet some of our new neighbors. Campbell was very excited to meet the two little girls next door to us.
Saturday, we did a lot of cleaning and packing here at the house. Aaron took the kids out to try to get my Mother's Day gift. They had no luck. He had something specific in mind. He wanted to get me a new leather jacket. He is apparently tired of seeing the old one that has definitely seen better days. They came home empty handed. We all went later and still came up empty handed so we decided to go out to dinner. It seems that although it is still snowing here in May, all the stores have sent all of their jackets back to the warehouses.
Sunday morning, I got to sleep in. It was very much needed. I woke up to my favorite coffee drink, breakfast in bed, and tulips. Campbell also gave me a little plant that she planted at school for me. It was all very sweet. After breakfast we all got up and got ourselves showered and dressed. We had lunch with Aaron's former co-worker, Sabash, and his wife, Pad Man Jah. It was a lot of fun. We had some delicious authentic Indian cuisine. Pad Man Jah is in love with our kids and gave them each a board game. We had a wonderful time with them.
After lunch we took another load of stuff down to the new house and left Aaron there. He is staying down there during the week so that he doesn't have to commute so far. With the gas prices the way they are, anything more than 10 miles is completely unaffordable.

New Glasses
Campbell got her new glasses yesterday. This is the second pair in 8 months. Our eye doctor said she obviously received my eye genes. Poor thing. That is the one thing I didn't want my kids to get, but apparently we can't control genetics. Any, she looks cute in these glasses, although much to grown up.

Does this mean that spring is finally here?
Last night and this morning we had our first thunderstorm of the season. It was loud enough to wake Campbell up this morning. She ended up in our bed. Caleb, surprisingly, slept right through the thunder. Last night he laid down in front of the glass sliding door in the living room and went to sleep. Apparently this is the perfect sleeping weather for him. We hope that this means that spring is finally here. But who knows, earlier this "spring" we saw it lightning while it was snowing. This place does have wierd weather.
Saturday we tried to usher summer in by going to a baseball game. It was also Navy appreciation day at the field so we got discounted seats. We were in row 18 which means that we were 18 rows from the field. We had a great time even though we only stayed for about 5 innings. Aaron had reserve duty the next day so we didn't stay the entire game. We had a great time though. Caleb was upset that he didn't get to go down on the field and throw the ball. I don't know how to explain that one to a 2 1/2 year old.
Today, Aaron and I signed on the new house. We get to pick up the keys and start moving in on Friday. We are very excited to get the moving process started. Here's a quick picture with notes. This is only the outside of the house. Inside pictures will be coming later. http://www.flickr.com/photos/68818805@N00/2473800915/

We're Moving to Charleston
Place that is. Yesterday we went to look at some houses down in Colorado Springs. The first house we looked at (which is the one we chose) is in a subdivision called Charleston Place. The house is on Ravenel Street. We even looked at one Greenville Ct. Unfortunately the one on Greenville Ct was higher than we were willing to pay. The entire neighborhood is all about SC. Each of the street names has something to do with SC. It's actually quite humurous. Campbell will actually walk through Greenville CT to go to school.
The new house is within walking distance of the school. This house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. We have plenty of space for people to visit. (Hint hint). The basement area has a terrific den where my office and the play room will be. In addition there is a bedroom and a bathroom downstairs. That will be the guest suite.
Upstairs has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The kids have a jack and jill type bath where the two bedrooms are seperated by the bathroom. Also upstairs is the washer and dryer. I don't know who the genious was that decided the laundry area should be with the bedrooms, but he/she deserves a huge thank you!! This is the best design plan ever.
The main floor (between the basement and the upstairs) has a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a small den and a bathroom. The dining area opens onto a deck which leads to a patio and a lovely, big, fenced back yard. The kids are going to love this area this summer. The house also has an extra large two car garage. This house is going to provide us more than enough space to strectch out. Infact, we don't have enough furniture for the place. We will be hitting up Craigslist for some cheap furniture.
We start moving in next weekend. I will post some pictures at that point.
